Super Fast & Easy Memorial Day Baking

Let me start off by saying, thank you, to all of the courageous men and woman who sacrificed their lives fighting for our country. We are eternally grateful for your bravery.

That being said, most of us spend this holiday by enjoying the day off of work, embrace the opportunity to dress patriotic and attend a BBQ/pool party with friends and family!  As you’re taking the day to relax, the thought of spending hours in the kitchen to prepare something so you don’t show up to the party empty handed, is probably the last thing you want to be doing. Not to worry – here are four simple and totally adorable desserts that you can whip up in less than an hour!

Rice Crispy Stars

What You’ll Need

2 Boxes of Rice Crispy Treats Extra Small Metal Star Cookie Cutter ½ Bag of Red Melting Chocolate ½ Bag of Blue Melting Chocolate Wilton Baking Bag or Ziploc bag Sprinkles (Optional) Small Bowl of Hot Water

Instructions

  1. Once you’ve unwrapped and laid out all over your rice crispy treats on parchment paper/tinfoil. Dip your small star cookie cutter into the hot water, each time before cutting (roughly) two small star shapes out of the rice crispy treats.

  2. Using a double broiler on very low heat, melt the melting chocolates until they’re smooth and runny. Be careful not to overheat chocolates. (If the chocolate becomes chalky and stiff, you’ve probably overheated it. You can try adding a little vegetable oil to help with the consistency.)

  3. Pour melting chocolates in preferred bag, drizzle and decorate.

  4. Allow at least 30-60 minutes for the chocolate to dry before storing. Store in a sealed container at room temperature until ready to serve.
